Rated 5 out of 5 by Gary S from Best meter I've used in .35 years of field service This is my 3rd Fluke meter purchase in 35 years of providing industrial equipment field service. Each meter better than the last. Each one excellent in accuracy, quality and speed. The 1587 allows me to give my customers fast, accurate service evaluations of their motors, vfd drives and electrical control systems. And to make this meter even better it is made in the USA. I trust only Fluke meters when it comes to providing the very best in customer service. Thanks Fluke for consistently providing the very best in electrical test equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Johnh2o from 1587 FC is a Fantastic diagnostic tool! I have now owned this meter for about a year and am extremely pleased with it. It has great voltage sensitivity down to the millivolt level. This meter has all the normal functions of most DMM's and adds insulation resistance measurements as well! I highly recommend this meter for all skilled electricians wanting to step up their diagnostic capabilities with one meter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CarlMacklin48 from Solid insulation tester This was an upgrade from the first generation model 1587 and I can say it is worth every penny.
Hands down, the best feature is the Bluetooth connection via Fluke Connect. I test countless motors in an industrial setting and logging the insulation results over time is essential. Logging that data on my phone is a massive time saver and ensures accuracy.
Similarly, logging PI/DAR timed ratio tests with Fluke Connect is key to long term proactive analysis of motors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by The H Man from 1587FC - time and money saver! I recently purchased this unit after seeing my lead electrician save time diagnosing motors with an older unit. I am his backup and this unit was quick and easy to learn to do the basics. I am by no means a complete expert, but I can quickly rule in or rule out the "bad motor" that gets thrown under the bus so many times by mechanics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SEaDInc from Upgraded from my 1587 I'm an industrial and commercial electrician. I originally purchased a 1587 as part of the 1587-MDT (Motor Drive Troubleshooting) Kit, with the 400A current clamp, thermocouple, and 9040 Phase Rotation Indicator. I often troubleshoot and commission motors, and the 1587 was my go-to DMM. It's now been replaced by the 1587FC
The added features of Fluke Connect, the automated temperature correction when conducting IRT (Insulation Reisitance Tests), and automated PI (Polarization Index) and DAR (Dialectric Absorbtion Ratio) tests have simplified and streamlined my troubleshooting procedure. Documentation of troubleshooting and of pre-start motor commissioning or re-commissioning now is clear, and simple. The graph of an IRT for a borderline motor winding really helps me explain to a customer the problem, or potential problem, with a motor. And, it's saved customers money when I can document a motor's or compressor's health where other technicians have played the "it's a bad motor" card.
The most innovative use I found for my 1587FC is in tuning a 0-10VDC PID (Poportional gain, Integral gain, Derivitive gain) pressure control loop. The realtime graphing function with Fluke Connect allowed me to see the resultant pressure of the VFD's response in realtime as I adjusted the P, I, and D values of the VFD. And the value of documentation is priceless.
