Product overview: Fluke TL71 Premium Test Lead Set

The Fluke TL71 Premium Multimeter Test Lead Set is a pair of comfort grip probes (red and black) with flexible silicone-insulated, right-angle test leads. These distinctive comfort grip probes are heat and cold resistant.

As with all Fluke products, these test leads undergo a battery of safety tests to be rated at:

CAT II 1000 V, 10 A rating

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Changed from Silicone to (what smells like) rubber I just purchased a set of TL71 leads for a new meter. In the past these have been a good quality silicone rubber lead. For the same price, I get a stinky rubber smelling set of leads. Comparing them to an older set of TL71 the feel is different. If you are going to change the form of a product please change the part number. Especially if it is to cost reduce what was a premium option. (And if it says silicone insulated right on Fluke.com's web page).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Black lead failed The meter itself is pretty amazing but the quality of the test leads is very poor. I bought the meter new and noticed the lead was slightly warped but I thought "no problem". Well, today I was testing a circuit and was getting no reading. After a bit of diagnosis I realized that the black lead had broken in the handle. Now I have never tugged on it. I am very careful with my equipment and I only use it at home in my hamshack. I have to say that I was disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great meter probes! I'm surprised at all the negative comments on the Fluke website! I've been using Fluke meter & test leads since the mid-70s. Probes are used A LOT, and get more strain than most people think. That said, after nearly 50 years as both a Technician & an Engineer, I've had exactly ONE set of Fluke leads fail, and that was after nearly 25 years of service! Other manufacturers leads fail constantly, but Fluke's last a long time; they're also some of the most expensive on the market, but I guess you get what you pay for!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a good look for fluke After many years of trusting this brand, I can no longer say Fluke is the best. I am switching to Klein tools, very disappointed! I have a Fluke 87 IV, very expensive!!! Paid a lot of money for this meter and after three weeks of use, the leads broke. Fluke you guys need to listen to these customers and change your ways otherwise you’re going to go bankrupt. I wasted a lot of money on a new pair... now my fluke 87 just sits on my tool box... very aggravating and annoying

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality I purchased a set of these TL71 leads and they failed after 2 days. The positive banana plug is stuck in the meter, I did not put any strain on the leads. I'm surprised at this since I own several Fluke meters with various lead sets and I've never had a problem before.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality I’ve seen the bad reviews on these before purchase and said let me give it a shot....I had an old pair of fluke leads that I lost...bought these to replace them. 2nd day my red lead bent after applying small pressure..3rd day I got back Feed from testing a modulating gas valve...I’m so disappointed I can’t even begin to explain. I’m going to buy the standard set and hope for the best. If not buy a used older fluke pair like the ones I had...never failed me..after being used and abused...I love or should say (loved) Fluke products..always preferred

Rated 1 out of 5 by from POOR QUALITY The internal part of the plug on the common lead that plugs into the meter broke off inside the meter. I'm sooooooo disappointed to spend almost 20 bucks for 3 months to use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Still junk No sign of improvement yet, apparently Fluke doesn't want to acknowledge the poor quality of this lead set. I'm still getting fairly new Fluke meters that ship with this lead set returned to my shop with a detached banana plug from the lead connector lodged inside an input jack on the meter.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Proves are failing It's my second set of Fluke TL 71 leads. They worked great for 6 months but now the positive lead is completely failing. Either a loose or bad connection inside the lead. Obviously not what I was expecting from Fluke.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from These fail frequently and prematurely I work for a calibration lab and I certify a LOT of hand held meters and you'd be amazed at how many sets of TL71s fail to maintain continuity under mild stresses. And by that I mean a slight tug at the connector end or probe end will often be enough to open the circuit but with no pressure applied, they appear to be okay. The other major failure I'm seeing lately is the banana plug separates from inside the guard and ends up lodged into the meter's input jack(s). Poor build quality. Period. Fluke: please do something about this. Just phase it out and start over.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad quality control I purchased a pair of these from Amazon. The probe is warped. I am returning them. Why is there no quality control?
