Is the output of the Fluke i400 AC current clamp in RMS or peak value?

Asked by: Krishneel
The output of the Fluke i400 AC Current Clamp is neither RMS or peak. When the clamp is used with an RMS meter, the results are RMS values. If used with a peak reading meter, the results will be peak values.

I own a Fluke 289. Would this clamp work with my meter to measure 480/3PH/60 Motor Inrush currents? Between the I400 and the I410, is there a response time or sensitivity difference in such an application? Any Application/Tech Note or info is appreciated!

Asked by: Nicko
It is recommended to use a clamp meter or meter with an inrush function. Response time is based on the meter and that is about a 200ms sample rate. You can talk to a Fluke sales expert about selecting the right product for your needs at 877-864-5880.

Hi! I bought an i400E for my Fluke 116 but I cannot get it to work... The specs for the i400E say it's compatible with digital multimeters that have standard input jacks and mV AC function. The 116 has both of these. Am I missing a hidden detail?

Asked by: Toby
The Fluke-i400E and the Fluke-116 are compatible. The Fluke-116 has to be on AC Voltage and the Fluke-i400E has to be plugged into the voltage and com jacks on the meter and you have to clamp around a single conductor not a power cord. A power cord has multiple conductors in them. The Fluke-116 is going to read milli-volts per amp. So if you have 20 amps you meter with read 20.0 milli-volts.

Does this work with Fluke 117?

Asked by: Lance86
Yes, the Fluke i400 AC Current Clamp will work with the Fluke 117, but works better at higher currents. A better meter to work with the Fluke i400 AC Current Clamp is the Fluke 177 True-RMS Digital Multimeter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent but not Great It does the job, I would like thinner clamps if possible to get to thinly packed heavy Guage wire. A retractable spool or some sort of wire management system for cleaner storage would be great. Overall decent purchase
