Rated 2 out of 5 by billn from Defected 2AC I Do not recommend the 2AC It lite up just holding it in the air or on wood. I used to have a 1ac that work flawlessly. I used it for years. Send the 2AC back to Amazon.

Rated 4 out of 5 by PanPap from Nice tool Hello. I just bought the Fluke 2AC. I am a physics teacher and use it at home and lab cases ( discontinuing wires and things like that). Although it is a great tool it lights up when I put it near metal surfaces although voltage is not present - as if E/M waves are reflected or something like that. It even lights up when I put it near my mac's keyboard or the microwave chassis. Is there some kind of sensitivity calibration that is needed?

Rated 4 out of 5 by BillW from Works Great with 1 exception! Users should be reminded that childproof outlets will not indicate voltage unless a blade enters neutral slot simultaneously with a blade in the "hot" slot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Tom in Tucson from works like a charm The Volt Alert 2AC works fine. My only complaint is that unscrewing and re-screwing the barrel to replace the batteries is a little rough, as if the battery return wire is catching on something. Voltage detection works fine and I am basically happy with the units operation.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Humu Humu from 1 Flaw I just got my 2AC/90-1000V unit. I have a Fluke 787 ProcessMeter provinding me loop-current (24VDC) to my PLC anlog input module. The pen tip stays lit when it makes contact to the meter-leads. (??) When checking outlets and power cords, it seems to work right. So, why does it stay lit with 24VDC loop power?

Rated 5 out of 5 by bakermc from Great and cool tool for every family! I've owned and used this product for a few years and loved it very much. It has helped me a lot to test my house wall plugs and power lines to check whether there is power or not. It's so easy to use and always gives me a peace of mind before I touch or fix the plugs or lines. I have also used this tool to diagnose broken Christmas lights to pin-point which light is burned out, especially when the light decoration is very long. Highly recommend to anyone who needs to deal with any power issue around one's house!

Rated 5 out of 5 by NYCElec1 from It Just Works I've been carrying this 2AC tester daily instead of the classic 1AC-A that I normally carry. Not needing to "turn on" the tester has been very convenient and the lens flashing red upon movement confirms there is battery power remaining.

Rated 5 out of 5 by joseph nova from best non contract voltage tester on the market I have used the 2-AC non contact voltage tester for over ten years. Even after repeated drops and bumps they keep on working. I have never had one that didn't detect voltage when there was voltage in the circuit. Sometimes the tester shows voltage when there is none but that just means I need to double check with my meter- which happens to be the fluke T+Pro electrical tester. It's a tough pair to beat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Do Not Buy from Poor 220v response. No beep. Description reads audible/beep, but no sound at all when near power. Also, does not properly detect 220v. Just a single very quick LED flash. Unusable tester.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Dave Marks from Good but not 5 stars! The directions for use that come with this instrument are flawed and the most important directions are not even included. The tip of this detector should be inserted into the SHORT (rectangular) slot of the 3-hole receptacle.
If it is inserted into the short slot (which is the HOT slot), then it will shine bright red if the receptacle is live, and the light will stay on until you pull the tip out.
If you insert the tip into either the round/ground hole or the long slot (which is not hot), the only way this detector works is when you pull OUT the tip, and then you will see just a red flash. By the way, the round ground "slot" and the short, upper slot are tied together internally, and neither is hot.
The other reason I can't give this product five stars, is that the tip appears to be likely to break off with repeated use, so you have to be careful and insert it and withdraw it without bending it side to side.
